Trainer Oskar ter Mors:

Oskar ter Mors is a HEMA-instructor, -scholar and part time Landsknecht based in The Hague, NL. Although he is a jack of all blades, he specialises in the Langes Messer, which he likes to approach as a modern fencing discipline with strong historical roots.

Workshop:

The Langes Messer is really one of the most fascinating weapons in HEMA. For it, we have the single longest treatise dedicated to a single weapon before 1600, and it was generally considered to be the basis for fencing with all one-handed weapons.

Despite all this, studying the messer is still considered to be something that is quite hard to do. Especially Lecküchner is (rightfully) considered a difficult source to work with. In this workshop weekend aimed at both beginning and more experienced Messer fencers, we will try to unlock the manuscript and use its potential for understanding both the historical fencing context it originated in, and how to make it all work in sparring.
